Mesothelioma Awareness
I received this from the wife of a very good friend of mine who passed away from Mesothelioma a few years ago. This is one cause of death that can be prevented with your help.
"Nearly 10 years ago, Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation MARF Volunteer Nancy Buszinski lost her husband to mesothelioma. She asked the Governor of Pennsylvania to recognize the plight of all those suffering with meso by declaring 9/26 (their anniversary) as Mesothelioma Awareness Day. The Governor complied with her request, and has reissued this proclamation every year since.
In the 10 years since, observance of the day has grown and is now a national campaign. Just as Nancy did here in Pennsylvania , I am asking that you do in your state to get the word out to others, and shine a spot light on the issue of meso.
You can call your Governor's office to find out who is in charge of Proclamations and Special Recognition, or you can simply send your request in to the main office of your Governor where it will be handed off to the appropriate staffer. It is a good idea to give them as much lead time as you can with which to act, and to include a sample proclamation so they don't have to come up with something 'from scratch'.
Here in Pennsylvania , Proclamations of Recognition need to be reissued anew every year, and every year I ask our Governor to do so and he does. I have attached a sample letter as an initial request to your state's Governor, as well as a copy of the Proclamation issued here in Pennsylvania .
If you are so moved, please take a moment to submit a request to your Governor. Wouldn't it be great to see a Proclamation in each and every state in this country?"

A Discussion On Health Care Around The World
I received this in an email that was going around. I'm not sure who authored it, but I thought it was funny.
Four different foreign doctors were setting in the airport discussing their countries health care when;
The Japanese doctor says, "My country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him out looking for work in six weeks.
A German doctor says, "That is nothing. We can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him out looking for work in four weeks."
A British doctor says, "In my country medicine is so advanced that we can take half a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have both of them out looking for work in two weeks."
The American doctor, not to be outdone, interjected, "You guys are way behind. We are about to take a woman without a brain, put her in the White House and then half the country will be out looking for work."
