Terrorist Groups In America?

I have taken down the PC poll and added a new one based on some recent discussions about terrorism.

The poll I have here has been running 90% toward Strongly Agree that America is becoming too politically correct.  I don't know about you,  but I find that kind of frightening.  We seem to be afraid to challenge individuals or groups of individuals about their actions, for fear of being called a raciest, a bigot or worse yet, sued by the ACLU for infringing on someone's "rights".  This very fear appears to be opening the door for the radical terrorists to enter America and infiltrate our colleges and neighborhoods.  We need to stop the BS PC games and open our eyes to what is going on in our own backyard.  The following two groups are featured on  The Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) website.  Take a look at their profile and let me know what you think.

 Muslim American Society (MAS)

The Muslim American Society (MAS) is an organization with strong ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. The organization, founded in 1993, is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia and has local chapters in 23 states. MAS is headed by Esam Omeish and Souheil Ghannouchi, who serve as president and executive director respectively. Shaker El Sayed served as the Society's secretary general until June 1, 2005, when he left the organization to become an imam at the Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Northern Virginia. MAS' political and public relations wing, the Freedom Foundation, is headed by Mahdi Bray

Muslim Students Association (MSA)

Islamic extremism is on the rise on college campuses across the United States. The spread of radical Islamism on campuses has proven to be an effective tool to garner support and gain legitimacy, exploiting the right of free association with academic institutions. International and domestic groups that advocate extremist or radical causes frequently host lectures and other events on campuses to shore up support and recruit members. Indeed, universities are a fertile field for radicals searching for the next generation of activists and sympathizers.

With nearly 600 chapters -- including roughly 150 chapters directly affiliated with MSA National -- located in the United States and Canada, the Muslim Students Association (MSA) is the most visible and influential Islamic student organization in North America. As reflected in the extensive information presented in this dossier, MSA has gained legitimacy on American campuses as a benevolent collegiate faith club; however, under this moderate veneer MSA advances a different agenda among impressionable college students. Through conferences and events, publications, websites and other activities, MSA disseminates and promotes militant Islamic ideologies. This dossier is on MSA-National as well as the numerous chapters of MSA formally affiliated with MSA-National.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves now...

The first group you present seems like a normal group, the second one obviously has other intentions.

That said, I disagree that it is the "political correctness" of our nation that has fueled the (potential) existence for radical groups in this country, but rather, our arrogance and ignorance have.

I say arrogance for our behaviors, both foreign and domestic, ignorance because I often find that our government, and citizens look in all the wrong places and fire blame at all the wrong groups fro all the wrong reasons - much too often. And so, with the combination of the two...you have the potential for terrorists here.

Then again, they've always been here, in various forms. It would be prudent, in my opinion not to over inflate the fear of "homegrown terrorism" and "radicalized violence" both hot button terms of a bill set to go to the Senate after the homeland security department is finished with it.... because what that does is generate a disingenuous description of "what to look for" equivalent to the Red Scare in the 50's, only worse - and the last thing we need right now is more racism towards Muslims, or anyone who might look like one.

Which isn't being PC, but rather....a CH - Compassionate Human ;)

I'll take your comments one

I'll take your comments one at a time.
"The first group you present seems like a normal group" Are you kidding? This group was founded as the US chapter of the Muslim Brotherhood. Did you read about Mahdi Bray and his activities?  Did you watch the video of him shouting his support to Hamas and Hizballa?  Do you think Hamas and Hizballa are just freedom fighters pissed off at arrogant & ignorant Americans?  You know Hamas? The group with the Jihad Mouse teaching children to me martyrs.

"That said, I disagree that it is the "political correctness" of our nation that has fueled the (potential) existence for radical groups in this country, but rather, our arrogance and ignorance have.  I did not say our PC fueled their existence (not potential, they are real), I said our fear of confronting them is basically allowing them to set up shop. They have been pissed off at us for a lot longer time than people realize and from a lot farther away.  In fact, I would say Bush didn't start it, he just shook the hornets nest and sprayed some raid on the ones that flew out... That nest is still humming and it will be, regardless of who is our next President or what our foreign policy becomes.

You will never be able to be a CH with people who love death more than they love life and being too PC will surely result in us either dying or living under the Shariah.

More to follow....

I have been reviewing their

I have been reviewing their website, and I came across some writings you might be interested in. For one, many of their statements sound eerily like those made by the US government. That should either be a relief, or a great concern - depends on how you look at it I suppose... But from what I am reading, no, the group as a whole doesn't come across as terribly terrorist oriented - not like the second group you mentioned!

For me, this is a red flag, as the US has acted this way before... I bristle at the generalization of large groups (indeed international) as being part of the terrorist network - particularly in the US because supposedly, our government is all over it. If these groups are engaging in illegal activities, then they will be arrested, or dealt with in the appropriate manner. If they aren't - then they aren't.... I do have great concerns for the widespread fear or fearmongering as I call it about terrorists roaming about in the US, operating under our noses as it were because it creates an atmosphere of paranoia. Did you know that my husband and I were reported to the FBI, simply for being Anarchists? Yup - and the bills that are now being pushed through our senate HR 1955/S 1959 don't only target Muslims, but a variety of groups that fall under the very vague definition of homegrown terrorists. I will write more later...

On the subject of the Muslim Brotherhood and More

Let me be clear about why I posted these here. Based on the information I read within these articles and others during my research, I feel the information was sufficient to suggest they are terrorist groups, or at the very minimum supporters of terrorist groups.  As I discover more, I will post more. If I find something I posted is wrong, I will correct it, but from what I have read so far there is more than enough information to support my position.

It would be difficult to deny that radical Islamic Fundamentalists are set on destroying western culture. You can blame it on the West’s arrogance and ignorance, but in doing so you minimize the very doctrine, they preach. They do not what to kill us because we are arrogant or ignorant, they want to kill use because we will not embrace Islam as our own religion. They are intent on destroying the West, from the inside and I don’t mean just the US, but Europe also.

"The Ikhwan [The Muslim Brotherhood's name for itself] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah's religion is made victorious over all other religions."
"The strategic goal of the Muslim Brotherhood in North America is multifold:  the destruction of Western civilization through a long-term civilization-killing Jihad from within ("by their [our] hands") and through sabotage ("the hands of the believers") and, secondly; to support the global Islamic movement to establish an Islamic super-state, the caliphate."  American Thinker

I know you don’t like generalizations and neither do I, but I do not think I’m generalizing. I am not saying all Muslims are terrorists. However, it can be said that the overwhelming number of terrorists are Muslims. Those are two totally different statements and the second is not very PC or CH, sorry… ;-)

Concerning fear mongering, all I can say is we live in a different world. People watched in horror as thousands died on TV in America and that made it very real. Muslims around the world danced in the streets. On September 11th, 2001, America saw just how vulnerable we really were. Sadly, we are sliding back into our dazed and confused old selves again. The very things that have prevented another attack, are being stripped away and we will soon return to the pre 911 mentality. That mentality will be the open door the radicals have been waiting for so many years. I hope I am wrong, but there are just too many signals saying otherwise.
