The effort to repeal DADT has very little to do with homosexuals serving their country openly. This is nothing more than a politically motivated effort by politicians and a minority of people to gain votes and push a social agenda.
For years, homosexuals have said they just want to be able to serve their country openly and proudly, all the while defying the very core values our military live by every day. They use terms like “equal rights” and “discrimination” to try to make their efforts sound legitimate, but they fail to understand one simple fact. No one has the “right to serve” in the military. Serving in the military is an honor and privilege. Compromises of core values are never accepted and everyone who serves understands it takes a commitment to a set of values that are rooted deep in tradition, honor and professionalism. Attempting to join the military should never be compared to the rights afforded to all Americans when seeking employment in the civilian world.
If repealing DADT were really about “equal rights” and removing “discrimination” then we would have to address a whole list of issues and not just homosexuals serving openly. The military discriminates against a number of groups and minorities in order to ensure good discipline, unit cohesion and effectiveness. If “equal rights” applied to the military, they would not be able to “discriminate” based on age, but they do every day. They would not be able to “discriminate” based on a person’s weight, but they discharge thousands of members every year for being overweight, even if they can pass their fitness test. They would not be able to “discriminate” based on what tattoos a person may have, but they deny enlistment to people every day because of tattoos. So you see, if repealing DADT was about “equal rights” and tearing down the walls of “discrimination”, we should be going after all the discriminators, but the recruit who is overweight and may have a few tattoos does not have the high paid lawyers and politicians in his pocket, like the gay rights groups. Therefore, he is just denied entry, while the homosexual is “discriminated” against and denied “equal rights”. It just seems wrong to cave into one group, while ignoring another group.
Unlike the civilian world, serving in the military is not just about being able to do your job. The military has to operate as a fully integrated team, not a social club where everyone does what he or she feels. Anyone who joins the military must be able to work and live as a team in close and often very difficult situations. This requires members to live by similar values and beliefs. Someone’s behavior cannot be allowed to cause a distraction or make other members feel uncomfortable. This is specifically why homosexuals are prohibited to serve openly. Homosexual behavior is not viewed by the majority of military members as being compatible with the military standards of conduct. So for homosexuals to claim they are being discriminated against I say this is not about you; it is about what is good for the military and our national security.
However, in an effort to be fair, let us think about this for minute. If DADT is repealed, what kind of living conditions will we force our military to live in? Will the military be forced to have facilities (showers, bathrooms, barracks and tents) for four or five different groups, or maybe just one? Will a minority looking for acceptance of their behavior, trample the rights of the majority to feel comfortable where they live and work? How will bi-sexual and transgender people serve? Will the transgender man be allowed to dress as a woman soldier one day, use the women’s facilities, and then dress as a male soldier the next? How many heterosexual Americans would really feel comfortable living and showering with known homosexuals? Why in the hell should our military have to deal with this type of social experimentation during wartime?
As mentioned above, repealing DADT is not about “equal rights” or discrimination against a minority. The military discriminates against a number of groups every day, but we never hear anyone complaining or any lawmaker trying to make a stand for them.
Therefore, with all politics aside, our political and military leaders need to address the repeal of DADT from the point of how would the repeal improve or strengthen our military and not from a perspective of how we can help a minority with their social agenda. If there is not hard quantifiable evidence that repealing DADT will significantly improve military effectiveness, then repealing the policy is not an option. To repeal the policy without that evidence would be nothing less than treason.
Well the Socialist In Charge and his crew came out on Friday with more lies and distortion about his Government take over of health care, claiming
"The Affordable Care Act will cover more Americans and strengthen Medicare by cracking down on waste fraud and abuse, modernizing payment systems and improving benefits by providing free preventive services, supporting innovations that help control chronic disease and closing the prescription drug donut hole," [Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius]
The facts show, according the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, that this massive nut roll the Democrats past will not hold down costs over the next ten years and in fact will cause them to increase. It will also force about 7 million seniors off their current Medicare coverage according the House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio.
"According to his own administration's analysis, the health care law the president signed one month ago today would violate his pledge to 'bend the cost curve' and force millions of seniors off their current Medicare coverage." John Boehner, R-Ohio.
Not only are the Republicans calling this bill a disaster, but even Obama's administration's analysts have said it will not do what Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the rest of the Democrats claim. Sounds like more lies and distortion. Some of the other issues with the bill are listed below:
-- About 14 million people would lose their employer coverage by 2019 as smaller employers terminate coverage and workers who currently have employer coverage become enrolled in Medicaid;
-- The estimated reductions in the growth rate of health spending "may not be fully achievable" because "Medicare productivity adjustments could become unsustainable even within the next 10 years, and over time the reductions in the scope of employer-sponsored health insurance could also become an issue";
-- New fees and taxes on medical device makers will "generally be passed through to health consumers in the form of higher drug and devices prices and higher premiums";
-- By 2011 and 2012 the initial $5 billion in federal funding for the creation of a national high-risk pool "would be exhausted, resulting in substantial premium increases to sustain the program; we anticipate that such increases would limit further participation";
-- It is reasonable to expect that a significant portion of the increased demand for Medicaid would be difficult to meet, particularly over the first few years";
-- Businesses would pay $87 billion in penalties between 2014-2019 for failure to offer insurance. [Fox News]
We need to get rid of these idiots in Washington, this November.
Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the rest of the Democrats have finally pushed through the massive health care bill and Obama signed it into law today hanging a tremendous burden on the American people. This bill adds trillions to our national debt, does nothing to reduce raising health care costs and will result in a significant decrease in the quality of health care Americans have enjoyed over the years. Even those who did not have health care received quality emergency care in the hospitals. Below is a short excerpt on Government cost estimates from Michael D. Tanner of the CATO Institute.
For example, when Medicare was instituted in 1965, it was estimated that the cost of Medicare Part A would be $9 billion by 1990. In actuality, it was seven times higher — $67 billion. Similarly, in 1987, Medicaid's special hospitals subsidy was projected to cost $100 million annually by 1992, just five years later; it actually cost $11 billion, more than 100 times as much. And in 1988, when Medicare's home-care benefit was established, the projected cost for 1993 was $4 billion, but the actual cost in 1993 was $10 billion. [Michael D. Tanner of the CATO Institute]
So do you really think passing this bill was good for America? I think it is past time we run these incompetent idiots out of town.
President Obama said back on May 2nd of 2006, "Eight months after Katrina, there’s no longer any emergency that justifies a no-bid contract that might have been entered into the days after Katrina." (Obama Speeches.com)
So what did we learn today? "...the Obama administration this month awarded a $25 million federal contract for work in Afghanistan to a company owned by a Democratic campaign contributor without entertaining competitive bids,..." (James Rosen, 2009).
Now this company is going to "train the next generation of legal professionals" throughout the Afghan provinces and thereby "develop the capacity of Afghanistan's justice system to be accessible, reliable, and fair." (James Rosen, 2009) Are they kidding?
How long will it take for America to see this man for who he truly is - just another lying politician out to reward his cronies?
With each passing day, we see just how reckless Obama's decision to close GITMO without a plan is turning into a bigger and bigger National Security nut roll. If he would have taken his time, developed a plan and secured the cooperation of other countries, he may have been able to close GITMO, but his inexperience and arrogant attitude has only proven why experience as community organizer does not make a Commander in Chief.
And now, according to Michael Isikoff of Newsweek, we may be looking at "Gitmo Forever".
"But the final irony is that many of the detainees may not even want to be transferred to Thomson and could conceivably even raise their own legal roadblocks to allow them to stay at Gitmo".
You got to love it; detainees may sue to stay in GITMO. This administration is a joke!
You know I really think these idiots who get elected to Congress should have to take a test on the Constitution and other documents our Founding Fathers wrote.
Enter Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) who thinks the Constitution gives Congress the authority to require that every American buy health insurance (Matt Cover, 2009).
Wow, did you know that? I wonder how long it will be before they think the Constitution gives them the authority to require us to by a car from GM, since they (or I should say we the taxpayers) own the majority of the stock?
Just so no one really thinks this is in the Constitution, here is what some others have to say;
“Nowhere in the Constitution is Congress given the power to mandate that an individual enter into a contract with a private party or purchase a good or service,” wrote Heritage scholars Randy Barnett, Nathaniel Stewart, and Todd F. Gaziano.
This health care bill is a major disaster for America and we need to contact Congress now.
The Democrats, always living in a fantasy world, really thought the American people voted for the Socialist agenda that Obama was selling. The fact is, as I said before here, Obama was elected because he was not Bush and to support that claim, all you have to do is look at Obama's and Democrat's poll numbers and what people think of the direction the Nation is heading. These numbers say we do not want to continue down this Socialist road of "Big Government", Tax Hikes" and "World Appeasement".
So now, the Democrats, "Desperate for Edge in Election Year, Dems Turn to Old Strategy" (Fox News), but they still don't get it do they. They forget they have had control of Congress for three years and Obama has been President for close to one year. It is well past time for these idiots to "put their big boy and big girl panties on and deal with the facts". Blaming Bush and the Republicans for where we are now is getting old and the American people are quickly turning against all the BS they see in Washington.
From the massive nut roll on Health Care, to the boondoggle in Copenhagen, to trying terrorists in criminal courts, this administration is completely out of touch with the majority of Americans. Let's hope the American people continue to see through this BS and take back America in 2010. To keep informed, check out these links:

On the Issues. org to find out where your they stand on important issues.

Sometime tonight, the Senate will vote to move their version of health care forward for debate. This bill, similar to the House's bill will drive up taxes significantly on all Americans, increase our national debt by trillions and destroy the quality of health care Americans have today.
Although Congress is far from delivering any kind of meaningful health care reform, the road these incompetent idiots are traveling is setting up our country for economic disaster.
"President Barack Obama took office promising to lead from the center and solve big problems. He has exerted enormous political energy attempting to reform the nation's health-care system. But the biggest economic problem facing the nation is not health care. It's the deficit. Recently, the White House signaled that it will get serious about reducing the deficit next year—after it locks into place massive new health-care entitlements. This is a recipe for disaster, as it will create a new appetite for increased spending and yet another powerful interest group to oppose deficit-reduction measures." (DOUGLAS HOLTZ-EAKIN, Nov 2009)
How far will we allow this disastrous spending of the Obama administration to go before we reach the stage of "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." America understands Obama inherited an economic mess from the Bush administration, but at some point Obama and his administration must be held accountable for their current and planned spending that will destroy our economy.
China's Premier Warns Obama to Get America's Deficit to an "Appropriate Size.
In a follow-up segment to the "Lies and Distortions to Distract" post I wrote earlier, it appears more information has come to light with regard to our "Communist Friend" Van Jones. According to Cliff Kincaid:
"It is now abundantly clear that he was pushed out because the scandal threatened to implicate Obama friend and White House adviser Valerie Jarrett in the scandal that gave him a critical White House position without proper vetting."
"Proper Vetting", some how it does not surprise me they would distort the story like this. The truth is, this has nothing to do with "Proper Vetting" and everything to do with trying to slip radicals into a radical administration hell bent on destroying our country. This administration is a threat to America and the sooner the American people understand this, the faster we can start taking back our great country.
Ok, have you heard about this idiot School Superintendent from the Lansingburgh Central School District who suspended the Eagle Scout? Check out the article on Fox News.
This guy is a complete idiot who needs to feel the outrage of the American people for his stupid decision. I suggest everyone contact him to let him know just how stupid he is to impose this kind of punishment on this kid.
To contact the Lansingburgh Central School District superintendent, call: (518) 233-6850 or e-mail: ggoodwin@lansingburgh.org.
